About this face

Oracle takes its marks from bone script. A ring of carved characters runs around the dial, each one a real ancient form, and the time is set in the open centre where a divination would have been read. The characters are incised rather than filled, drawn with a darker line inside a lighter one so they look cut into the surface. The ring rotates by the hour so a different set of marks faces up through the day. Aged bone tone on deep brown black. The always-on view keeps the character ring in outline.
