About this face

Ink turns the dial into a single sheet of rice paper. A wet brush stroke sweeps across the face, thickening where the hand pressed and thinning where it lifted, and the moon sits behind it like a pale seal pressed into the wash. The hour and minute hands are drawn as brush strokes rather than needles, so the time reads like calligraphy. A soft paper fibre texture sits under the ink so the surface never looks flat. Deep ink wash tones stay readable on an AMOLED panel. The always-on view keeps only the faintest trace of the stroke.
