About this face

SETTINGS ON THE WATCH Hold UP, pick Watch Face, select Periodic, press START, then Customize. The menu shows How it works, the three boxes, the small periodic table, the background, the hours and the always-on brightness. The same settings are in Garmin Connect. THE TIME IN ELEMENTS The hour and the minute are two chemical elements, by their atomic number. At 10:08 you wear neon and oxygen; at 19:59, potassium and praseodymium; at midnight, two neutrons (n, number 0). Every minute brings a new element, with its symbol, its name and the colour of its family: noble gases, alkali metals, halogens, transition metals and the rest. THE PERIODIC TABLE A small periodic table at the top lights the two elements of the time in their real place. Hide it for a cleaner face. YOUR DATA Three boxes in the same style, each one your choice: watch battery, heart rate, steps, Body Battery, calories, floors climbed, distance, intensity minutes, notifications, temperature, the next sunrise or sunset, or altitude. If your watch has no value, the box shows -- rather than a made-up number. MAKE IT YOURS Two backgrounds: Lab (midnight blue) or black. Hours like your watch, 24-hour (0 to 23, midnight is the neutron) or 12-hour (1 to 12). ALWAYS-ON A separate always-on design on a black screen: the two elements in grey outline, number and symbol. It shifts slightly every minute to protect the screen. The face asks for the location permission for sunrise and sunset; the position never leaves the watch.
