About this face

SETTINGS ON THE WATCH Hold UP, pick Watch Face, select Gazette, press START, then Customize. The menu shows How it works, the edition, the two columns, the story line, the hours, the leading zero and the always-on brightness. The same settings are in Garmin Connect. TODAY'S FRONT PAGE The time is the headline, in large newspaper capitals. The dateline under the masthead gives the day, the date, the issue number (the day of the year) and the temperature. Under the headline, a story in italics tells something true about your day, a new one every minute: your heart rate, the steps left to your goal or the goal reached, the next sunset or sunrise, the battery, the temperature. Only what your watch really measures is told, never a made-up number. TWO COLUMNS Two columns, each your choice: steps (with the share of your goal), watch battery, heart rate, Body Battery, calories, floors climbed, distance, intensity minutes, notifications, temperature, the next sunrise or sunset, or altitude. If your watch has no value, the column shows --. The edition follows the hour: morning, afternoon, evening, late. MAKE IT YOURS Two editions: newsprint (light paper) or night edition (dark). The story line can be hidden. Hours like your watch, 24-hour or 12-hour, with or without a leading zero. ALWAYS-ON A separate always-on design on a black screen: the headline in grey and the date. It shifts slightly every minute to protect the screen. The face asks for the location permission for sunrise and sunset; the position never leaves the watch.
