About this face

The time and the tide at a glance, in a crisp pixel-LCD style. • Big dot-matrix clock, date, and seconds when you raise your wrist • Tide curve for the hours around now, with the next high and low waters and the current height • 1,707 places worldwide: tide stations and the major surf, kite, swim and dive spots (Hossegor, Taghazout, Kona, Le Morne, Isles of Scilly…), plus famous places without a real tide, shown as such • Auto (default) shows the nearest one, wherever you are • 16 colour palettes, including 4 gradients (Sunset, Lagoon tide, Dawn, Deep), tuned for both AMOLED and MIP screens, plus a custom colour • Always-on mode that keeps the layout; on AMOLED screens it dims the colours and shifts pixels against burn-in Tides are computed on the watch: no phone connection, no account, no data plan. Settings: type your spot in Garmin Connect (capitals and accents don't matter), or leave it empty for Auto. Colours: in Garmin Connect, or on the watch. On fēnix 8/9, fēnix E, D2 Mach 2, enduro 3, Forerunner 570/970, Venu 4, Venu X1 and vivoactive 6, long-press the watch face and choose Customize; on other watches, use the watch face's settings menu (when the watch offers one). The last change wins. Location: Auto uses the position your watch already knows (last GPS fix, the location of your phone's weather, or your last activity) to pick the nearest station. It never turns GPS on, and the position never leaves the watch. Type a station name to turn Auto off. Accuracy: astronomical predictions, without weather effects such as storm surge. Heights are above Lowest Astronomical Tide, so they can differ from local tide tables by a few tens of centimetres. At some surf spots, times can differ by up to half an hour. Not for navigation. On fēnix 5 Plus and 6, Forerunner 245/645/745/945, first-generation MARQ, Venu Sq, vivoactive 3 Music, Descent Mk2S and Enduro, memory limits the list to 721 places.
